Are you exhausted and tired of fighting the good fight by yourself?
Frustrated because you have to white-knuckle your way through one craving after another?
Perhaps it feels like you’re doing all the heavy lifting, and still come up short.
Today is a new day. And I promise you, there is a new way. A better way. And it has to do with a very powerful partnership.
A partner that has a lot more power to offer us than we have on our own.
Yup. It’s God.
I know. You’re probably thinking duh, I do ask God for His help.
But do you?
I know for me I can get so consumed with the emotional storm surge coursing through my brain and body that I can easily forget to ask God for help. I get stuck in survival mode. This is why we don’t invite God into our struggle because we are in the fog and forget He is there to help us.
But it’s His power that we need when we are in the middle of the mess of our brokenness because the habits and behaviors that we once turned to for comfort have turned against us.
We are no longer in control and need a power stronger than our own.
The Bible draws a clear distinction between our power (will power) and God’s power. While our power is limited to what our humanness can handle, especially in our brokenness, God’s power is limitless.
Next time you find yourself in the middle of a mess, flooded with emotions, and you can’t seem to muster up the willpower needed to fight the good fight, call on God and invite Him into this partnership of power.
He is your strength in the storm and He wants to do more for you and through you than you can do on your own.
“Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.“ (Ephesians 3:20)
- Why is it so easy to forget to ask God for help when you are in trouble?
- What kind of help do you need from Him?
- How can you remind yourself to call on Him next time you experience an emotional flood?
Prayer is just a conversation with God. Talk to Him about what you learned and what you need from Him today.
Be bold. Be brave. Be free.
